Research aims
I am interested in a range of research areas but with a particular intest in chronic disease especially diabetes and renal disease, and in application of mathematical and statistical analyses to real world data. Through my work at the University of Surrey and other appointments I am currently involved in the following projects.
Completed research projects
A full list of completed projects list and publications can be found here.
Current research projects
Dapagliflozin clinical audit:
This project is a phase 4 analysis of the clinical efficacy of dapagliflozin in clinical practice. A poster summary is available here.
Child maltreatment audit:
This project is looking at how simple guidelines can improve coding and case finding of child maltreatment in the UK. Full details can be found here: www.clininf.eu/maltreatment.
Evaluation of Physician Assistants (PAs):
This project aims to find out more about the potential roles of PAs within the NHS. How and where can they contribute? Full details can be found here.
Analysis of QICKD cohort data:
This comprises a number of projects looking at the outcomes of people with chronic renal disease and diabetes using data collected for the QICKD trial. I am undertaking several interesting a diverse investigations with this very rich dataset:
- Analysis of the role of the GP in retinal screening
- Back calibration of eGFR from historical data
- Predicting trends in renal function
- The role of mental health in diabetes managment
- And others ...
ALFA video analysis:
This is part of a series of analyses which look at the role of the computer in the clinical consultation using the ALFA toolkit. Basically, this is a method of recording GP consultations and providing an in depth analysis of the complex interactions between patient, doctor, and computer.
Malaria management in children in Ghana:
This project arose from my time in Ghana and comprises an audit of over 300 children treated at the Baptist Medical Center, Nalerigu, Ghana at the end of last year.
